TODAY LET'S FRANKLY DISCUSS HOMOSEXUALITY

It is common knowledge that deadly disease like AIDS owes its birth to homosexuality. International relief organizations like WHO spend billions of dollars to curb its spread. We are told that even Government of India is taking lots of precautions to stop its spread. But ever since the British left, we are having more cheques and bank balances than checks and balances. So we do not know our real position vis-a-vis the disease on the ground level.

Another factor is our democracy. Everybody is an expert and expresses his/her opinion without hindrance.

Thus we saw famous film personality, Mr Shah Rukh Khan, alias King Khan, telling all and sundry on “Coffee with Karan Johar” show that he was homosexual. One thought that he was speaking with his tongue in cheek.

But after the team India's recent resounding victory in international cricket, the team was facilitated all over India. And at one TV channel King Khan hosted the reception. So far so good. Mr khan began with addressing Irfan Khan that Pathans have a soft corner for boys. Everybody laughed. OK. Then he calls Harbhajan Singh “Phaji” on the stage. He tells Phaji that he has heard his preference for young boys.

Phaji's face darkened for a moment. Perhaps Mr Khan did not know that homosexuality is a strict no, no for Sikhs. I am told that the Living Guru of the Sikhs, Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the holy book of Sikhs, strictly prohibits this sort of behaviour for the Sikhs. As homosexuality invaded India along with the foreign invaders, it is natural that the Punjabis who bore the brunt of the attacks and suffered the most should abhor this disease as well. In the cultured and high society of Punjab any talk of homosexuality is considered vulgar and cheap and not encouraged.

Even in Bible one reads about the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. But one does not know about holy Quran, Torah.

However, Phaji kept his cool. He, after declaring that he has no knowledge about acting, etc., sportingly even did a jig for King Khan with the latter's stage partner, gushing, pretty, petite Ms Diya Mirza, dressed like Snowhite, though awkwardly. Then Mr Khan cartwheeled and showed how the scene was filmed. Phaji complimented, “Now I know why they call you King Khan of the film industry.” And the episode ended.

After that what Mr Khan said about homosexuality is obscure, because he got busy with his latest, “Kya aap Panchvi pass se tez hain ?”. And my cable operator dumped all the Star channels for reasons best known to him. I really don't know what is happening now on the Khan front.
